Chrissy Metz

We were so honored to get some time with Chrissy Metz, star of NBC’s “This is Us,” which just aired its last episode, sniff. With the series ending, Chrissy finds herself not only heading into a new phase of her life, but into myriad new projects. She recently stopped by our studio to talk to us about her plans—and share her radiance in the photos you see below—and we can honestly report that she is as kind as she is talented. We can’t wait to watch (and sip) what comes next from this multi-talented performer.

Bare Magazine: Can you share what feelings/thoughts are twirling around in your heart and mind most often these days?

Chrissy Metz: There is no telling! I will always have a song running through my head and heart at any moment. I am processing the show’s series wrap as well. There is a ton going on at any given moment. I am walking dichotomy.

Bare: Do you feel satisfied with the way things have been coming to a close on the show?

CM: Yes, aside from wishing we had one more season. I think most humans always want more. The way Dan [showrunner Dan Fogelman] is wrapping up this series is pretty close to as good as it gets.

Bare: As they say, “one door closes another one opens.” Amidst all the farewells, what hellos are you looking forward to in this next chapter of your life?

CM: I’m really looking forward to getting a real good go at finishing an album and sharing my music.

Bare: Your character, Kate, has been such a part of you for so long. What parts of her will endure inside you?

CM: I sure hope her resilience, courage, and heart continue to impact me as I walk through this world on a daily basis.

Bare: You are so fun and funny in real life. Do you think working on a comedy might be a refreshing direction for you next? Do you have interest in doing theater?

CM: I would absolutely love to do a comedy! I really thought comedy was going to be my thing right out of the gate. And I would absolutely love to do theater—musical theater is really the best of both worlds.

Bare: Can you please update us on some of your side passions...music, singing...wine?!

CM: I am starting a film in Kentucky that is a far cry from Kate Pearson this summer. And Joyful Heart [the wine company Chrissy founded] is a delicious wine with a beautiful message and mission. I have always had an interest in being entrepreneurial, but it had to make sense. I’ve always been so fascinated with wine, but I knew that there was so much, and still is so much, to understand about it all. I wanted to make wine that was accessible without compromising taste or quality. Working with an amazing wine maker, Nicole Walsh, was super fun. I really got to be really hands-on in the process of what I wanted the wine to taste like in every capacity. You can check it out at www.joyfulheartwine.com!

Bare: And finally, what are your Bare essentials?

CM: Eyelash curler, mascara, lip gloss, lotion, and my phone—I can’t live without music on the go.
