Elaine Hendrix

Elaine Hendrix reunites for a fleeting but wonderful moment with her 90's Parent Trap costar Lindsay Lohan in Freakier Friday (sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday) in a cinema near you now. if you haven’t seen her starring alongside one of our favorite bare ladies and Elaine’s very dear friend Elizabeth Gillies in Dynasty do it! we had the pleasure of spending some pre NYC Freakier premiere time chatting about Elaine's off broadway producing project the hilarious Ginger Twinsies (a Parent Trap parody) her support/love for animals/nature and vegan/cruelty free everything, living in Atlanta, where she gets her stunning eyebrows and the importance of authentic connections…most of all we hope you catch a hint of her compelling kind spirit.
the bare magazine: describe what it was like filming your cameo in freakier friday...is it a few days of filming, a quick in/out , was there time for a reunion and hang time?
Elaine Hendrix: I'm so glad they asked me to be a part of the film. I had so much fun. It was a pretty quick shoot for me. Two days - in and out. It was a wonderful reunion. Got a little hangtime on set. Met new friends. Being on a Disney set is always magical. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
bare: what were some highlights of the LA and NYC premieres?
EH: For me, the highlights of premieres are always about the people. Seeing friends, colleagues and fans is a good boost to my soul. Getting all glammed up and having fun never hurts as well. And then there's seeing the final products….which is both nerve wracking and thrilling.
bare: does it feel good to get back to your home of atlanta? what do you love most about living there?
EH: Atlanta is a fantastic city. There's so much nature - that's a big bonus for me. Doesn't hurt that I bought my dream house as well. That makes it particularly hard to leave. Plus, I have so many friends from so many decades of living there off and on. The familiarity is nice.
bare: you were also in NYC for the opening of Ginger Twinsies a play very near and dear to your heart! please share more details on it and your involvement.
EH: They asked me to join the producing team - for obvious reasons. After seeing the workshop of it, there was no question I wanted to be a part of it. It's genuinely one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. I began my career in theatre and I never want to be far from it. Going back to my theatre roots gives me immense joy.
bare: we had a great glam time before the Freakier Friday premiere in NYC - you are an avid vegan and user of all cruelty free products. what are your top favorites? how long have you been an animal rights activist and supporter?
EH: While I'm not perfect, I do everything I can to make my personal life and professional life align with my vegan values. I've been an avid animal rights activist and advocate for about 16 years now. Using vegan or at the very least cruelty-free beauty products is such an easy thing to do to help the most vulnerable of beings on this planet. I wish more people would take it into consideration. I would say one brand in particular that I go back to over and over is LaRocca. I've been a supporter of theirs for many many years.
bare: your skin and eyebrows are naturally stunning - would you say your diet, skincare routine and good genes are to blame?
EH: Thank you. I was blessed with these eyebrows from day one. They're pretty much identical to my mother's. I'm super grateful for them because I've never had to do anything with them. My entire wellness practice plus excellent genes makes for a steller combo for my skin. I'm vegan, I don't smoke, I get plenty of sleep. Exercise and drink lots of water. I don't eat refined sugar and I'm limited on the amount of alcohol I drink. I try to prioritize my health as much as I can. it seems to be paying off.
bare: we discussed religion whilst getting you glammed - you said "nature is my religion" can you expand on that?
EH: I'm not big on any religion that worships anyone in any kind of human form or idea. Man-made can always be challenged. Nature is undeniable. It's infallible. Its ability to heal us in so many ways and on so many levels is remarkable. I find the greatest peace and joy when I'm surrounded by nature. The connection it brings is unmatched. The more time I take to learn about how nature actually works and how critical it is to our existence - the deeper my reverence for it forms. And then the greater our need to protect it becomes imperative.
