The Bare Magazine: Can you share some highlights about filming new season of Handmaids Tale?

Ever Carradine: Honestly, I think this is the biggest season of the show yet. It's just huge. Every single episode packs a punch to the gut. As far as filming highlights, my favorite days are the ones where our incredible art department transforms an entire neighborhood to be Gilead. This is spoiler free as it's in the trailer, but the Fred funeral days just blew my mind. We had hundreds of extras, all dressed in Gilead funeral formal. Every building transformed with Gilead flags. There was even a white horse. They were long, freezing days, but ones I will never ever forget. And Lizzie directing was the cherry on top.

Bare: What do you think viewers will love about it as it evolves?

EC: Well, I'm a viewer, so when I say this, know that I am a huge fan of the show. I think the viewers will love never knowing what's going to happen. The show takes so many turns this season, the only way anyone would know what was coming is to read the scripts. This is hats off to our incredible writers and our showrunner, Bruce Miller. I honestly don't know how they do it.

Bare: You mentioned you have quite a few scenes with Ann Dowd ...please give us some thoughts on working with her.

EC: Ann is my favorite human and I pinch myself any time I read a scene where our character's speak to one another. She's wildly talented, funny, curious and just makes everyone around her feel special. We can all use a little more Ann Dowd in our lives.

Bare: You have some amazing connections/chemistry with cast mates on the show...do you feel it's one of the keys to making the show such a hit?

EC: I always say that off screen chemistry translates on film. It just does. A cast and crew in harmony just makes it all more fun. As far as why this show is a hit, I honestly think it's because every single person there cares. I said it to Lizzie the day that I wrapped — the greatest gift of this show is that everyone cares about what we are making. I am forever grateful to be Naomi Putnam.

Bare: After spending a great deal of time in period costume do you crave getting back to your modern day style?

EC: The funniest part of this show for me is that when people find out that I'm on it, they ask me who I play. These are people who have watched the show from season one, and they still can't place that I'm Naomi. I think a giant part of that is because of costumes and hair and make-up. Stick me in a floor length teal gown with a neat bun and Ever is gone.

Bare: How would you describe your personal style? Who are a few your favorite designers and why?

EC: I wear what I love. I always say that if you really love something, it will look great on you. Ditto for home design. Buy what you love, not what you think you should love. My personal style is kind of all over the map. I'd say Rachel Comey is my go to--she's really got my number. I love dressing preppy one day, maybe in A.P.C. and then more romantic the next, perhaps in Doen. I'm really all over the map. I also love a good bag and shoes and believe a vintage Levi's denim jacket goes with anything.

Bare: What's your latest go-to makeup look and products to get it?

I'm pretty low maintenance with make-up. My latest trick is I just glitter up my lids, add mascara and a soft blush and I'm good to go. Charlotte Tilbury has some great palettes, I love Jillian Dempsy cheek tint, and after trying every mascara on earth, I always come back to the Clinique High Impact. It's inexpensive and gets the job done.

Bare: We love that you are such a natural beauty. Can you share what works best for you as you get older are there treatments or skincare that you are really into?

EC: Elisabeth Moss introduced me to Joanna Vargas at some point in season one, and she's just the greatest ever. I completely trust her with my face, even hours before a red carpet. If you're lucky enough to see her, you will leave her facial looking younger than when you got there. I use all her products as well. Her C serum and Daily Serum are heaven. I also like The Cream from Augustinus Bader, Kiehl's for daily sun screen. I  also always, always, always wash my face before bed.
