the bare magazine: what are you most proud of about being part of The Rainmaker?
Madison Iseman: I’m immensely proud of the final product. What I love so much about our business is how many people it takes to come together, leave their lives and families, give 6 months of our time, all to make ten hours of entertainment. It really is a labor of love. This was a special one and I think you can really feel it through the screen. Everyone from cast to crew put their all into it. It’s so exciting to finally share it with the rest of the world.
bare: what should people be most excited about experiencing if they tune in?
MI: I think our show has a bit for everyone. It has the thrill of a traditional legal drama, it’s funny as hell, there’s a bit of romance sprinkled throughout. But more than anything, I think the story is an extremely compelling one.
The audience gets to unfold the case along with our main characters as they start to unpack what’s really going on episode to episode. It takes you on quite a journey from episode one to the finish. I’ve been lucky enough to see all ten episodes at this point, and I can proudly say the ending does not disappoint. Whether you were already a John Grisham fan, or have never heard of The Rainmaker, it has all the right ingredients for a great show.
bare: how did working alongside such a talented cast help stretch you as an actor?
MI: It’s the greatest gift in our business. When you sign on to a project, you really are blindly jumping in with a map hoping the team you were assigned will be able to work together to make it to the end. I really don’t know how we got so lucky — well, I guess we can chalk it up to a really great casting department and great producers.
This was a special one. Everyone just seemed to fit their roles so perfectly, and they’re all so so talented. I felt extremely lucky to be able to come to work with them every day. It made the hard workdays so much more exciting. Every day we were able to play and find nuance in our performances. I do feel like I walked away from this show with a whole new skill set and love for the game. And that’s solely because of every person I got to act with during our six-month stint.
bare: when it comes to reading reviews do you take them or leave em?
MI: They’re not for me. Most of my experience and my opinion of the projects I work on come from the actual work itself. It’s mine, and no one can take that from me. Once it’s out in the world, it’s for everyone else to judge, but they’ll never know about the time spent, good or bad.
bare: can you share how your girlfriends are such a stabilizing supportive element in your life? we have featured one of your besties Olivia Holt... she's a special one!
MI: My girls are the rock in my life. I really don’t know what I’d do without them. Life is always constantly changing and surprising me, but they’re always there. We all put each other on a pedestal, we’re each other’s biggest fans, and there’s not a better feeling in the world. I love my girls. Olivia is a queen!! Talented, beautiful, strong, she’s my role model!!
bare: we had so much fun on our shoot...did you enjoy the Modelo happy hour? are you moving from wine into a beer phase?
MI: I blame Ireland. Six months of drinking Guinness can really change a girl. I’ll never fully move on from my vino, but I’ll never say no to a beer.
bare: you brought cool outfits from your wardrobe...how would you describe your personal style? who is your current favorite designer or shopping outlet?
MI: To be honest, I feel like I’m in a new self-discovery phase. I’m still trying to figure out what I like and what my style is. Comfy is always queen. I’ve been a big Chloe girl as of recently. As far as personal everyday shopping, you’ll always find me thrifting.
