the bare magazine: how has being part of Ginny & Georgia been an essential part of your evolution both personally and professionally?
Nikki Roumel: Being part of Ginny & Georgia has truly changed my life. I had no idea what to expect—or whether the show would receive the love it so deeply deserves—but thankfully, it did. Playing Young Georgia was a series of firsts for me: my first recurring role, my first time playing a mother, my first accent, my first time working with children, my first time dyeing my hair, and so much more.
But it wasn’t just about the milestones. Each of those experiences helped shape me—not only as an artist, but as a human being.
bare: list a few things you think a G n G viewer might find most compelling and alluring in this season?
NR: I think many viewers will be struck by how deeply they see themselves reflected in multiple characters. This season does an incredible job of exploring mental health in a way that’s both honest and layered. We watch familiar characters go through incredibly challenging moments, and it’s both beautiful and heartbreaking to witness.
The cliffhangers this season are also going to spark a lot of conversation. So much has shifted—some of it may seem subtle at first, but the emotional impact is huge. I think viewers will find their perspectives evolving as the season unfolds, especially when it comes to the characters and the choices they make.
bare: describe the chemistry and connection the cast and crew have developed over time? how does it enhance your work and life?
NR: The chemistry and connection within the cast and crew has always been strong. It was built on a solid foundation, surrounded by a beautiful group of humans who are genuinely passionate about the arts. I’m forever grateful for the bond we share. Even though it’s been almost six years since our first table read, it still feels like no time has passed whenever we're together.
I’m only part of the flashback timeline, so the kindness and thoughtfulness of the cast and crew in bridging the worlds offscreen has meant so much—and apparently caused some very fun confusion for viewers! Definitely a double-take moment.
I also have so much love for my flashback family. Watching everyone grow—not just in age, but as people—has been incredible. We’ve seen the twins who play Younger Ginny, Tianna and Tiara, grow from well-behaved two-year-olds into eight-year-olds filled with love, talent, and generosity. And now, I have the honor of watching our Young Ginny, Camilla, and Young Austin, Leo, continue to blossom into their amazing selves.

bare: we were honored to have your G n G incredible creator Sarah Lampert for Bare. in what way does she inspire you and make the show even more spectacular?
NR: Sarah Lampert is the heart of the show. She could receive every ounce of credit in the world, and it still wouldn’t be enough. Her creativity is unmatched and endlessly inspiring—but she’s so much more than that. It’s hard to put into words just how special she is.
Sarah is the kind of person who will be your biggest supporter—whether you need that support to be loud or quiet, she always seems to know. The most important thing to understand about Sarah, especially in the context of the show, is that every compliment, every bit of praise, and all the love people give to Ginny & Georgia is directed at someone who truly deserves it. She is a spectacular soul—and anyone who meets her will feel an immediate sense of home and care in her presence. The world can be a scary place, and even in my darkest moments, Sarah is one of the few people, I think of when I need to hope
bare: thanks for coming in from your home of Ontario to shoot in brooklyn with us - did you enjoy the quick trip?
NR: I really did. I’ve been to New York a few times before, and I love how it feels like so many people there really know how to live. There’s less of a mask—so much authenticity in the way people carry themselves. I also love the subway. I don’t drive, so I’ve always been a fan of public transportation. Although, I find it can be a little overstimulating!

bare: you mixed some of your wardrobe in with a few of our favorite designers - how was that? can you describe your personal style?
NR: Honestly, my personal style is all about comfort. I love an oversized t-shirt and baggy jeans. I love the look of shoes, but you’ll usually find me barefoot—even at events.
Wearing the two-piece set from Rachel Antonoff gave me a fun opportunity to play with color and step out of my usual style zone. It made me so happy. And I still can’t get over that Batsheva skirt. It really pushed me to experiment and try something new—which I love. That’s kind of the beauty of this shoot: it encouraged me to be authentic and adventurous.

bare: you shared some of your mental health challenges...can you describe how it informs, affects and also, in what way you'd like to help and support people with similar issues?
NR: Mental health has been part of my life since I was young. It forced me to realize that the world isn’t just black and white—there’s a whole spectrum of grey. At first, I didn’t really have a choice but to be open, and now I’ll never go back.
That’s one thing Ginny & Georgia really highlighted for me—especially this season: just how vital open dialogue is. Everyone deserves—and needs—a safe space, a person, a place where they can simply exist authentically. I hope to help create more of those spaces, even just by being honest about my own journey.

bare: what are your favorite ways to recharge or treat yourself...hobbies or passions?
NR: Bubble baths are a big one for me, especially with candles and a good book. It feels like a warm hug. I also love screenwriting. I had pretty severe social anxiety growing up, and I taught myself how to write scripts. While my sister was outside playing with friends, I was writing a truly terrible feature-length film.
Writing has always been a form of escapism for me—a way to step outside my suffering, my trauma, my anxiety. Or sometimes, to face it, on my own terms. The imagination is endless, and I find that incredibly comforting. I also love walking barefoot in nature or just lying in the grass.
