Melanie Liburd - In Her Own Style

British beauty Melanie Liburd stars as Carrie Milgram in the hit drama “Power Book: Ghost,” which premieres 11/21 on Starz. Tune in to catch her character’s development—including her rather salty, sexy relationships. We were excited to have her join Bare again for a catch up and fun shoot in our Brooklyn studio. She came by with some wardrobe pieces that represent her cool, eclectic, and chic style. In this portfolio, she chats about her favorite designers, Ghost’s amazing wardrobe stylist Frank Fleming, her love of ‘80s vibes and, most important, her daily practice of self-love. From seamlessly stepping into a character’s shoes to filling the world with positivity, there’s seemingly nothing this gorgeous lady can’t do.

My personal style is city chic with a touch of vintage. I love a look that you can wear daytime to evening with just changing a shoe or throwing on a beautiful scarf and a lip.
Carrie has very expensive taste and loves a structured pieces, she’s a power dresser. All season I’ve been wearing , Channel, Fendi, Celine, Alexander Wang. Our head stylist Frank Fleming is an absolute genius. I’m definitely more relaxed and like to wear the odd designer piece mixed with vintage causal pieces.
It’s all about the 80’s for me! It just makes me smile and want to dance to disco.
I love vintage/accessory shopping. My favorite place for this is Paris and New York. So many precious little gems to discover.
New York has a powerful and inspiring energy. I’m always creating and always on the go here but somehow the city feeds you too.
My friend Valentina’s pieces from her collection called Dafne are fun and vibrant but also about empowerment and rebellion. About stepping into your true power.
In terms of men’s style, I think when someone feels good and they’re comfortable in what they’re wearing the energy and charisma shine through.
I really enjoy trying new looks for events and photo shoots. It’s always fun creating and collaborating with hair, makeup artists and stylist. On a day to day I keep makeup very natural and focus more on lovely skin care. I’m using Drunk Elephant at the moment
Practicing what I call self love is one of the most important things for anyone. When you look after yourself and feel good in your mind, body and spirit you can give more to other people and to the world. I try and do something that makes me feel good everyday whether it’s a long morning beach walk with my dog or a delicious bubble bath with essential oils. Self love is also trusting your instincts and not being afraid of using your voice.
